Came to Kenyon in:

 2003

Professional History

As a graduate student at KSU, I taught Honors General Psychology, Learning, Learning Lab, Scientific Writing, and Statistics. From 1997-2003 I worked as a research assistant on David Riccio's grant, studying learning and memory in animal models.

Teaching Interests

Here at Kenyon, I will be teaching Basic Processes (Intro Psych), Learning & Motivation, Research Methods in Learning & Motivation, and possibly Statistics. I am also looking forward to teaching some upper division seminars on topics such as Memory Phenomena and Drugs & Conditioning.

Research Interests

My area of research is learning and memory, generally. Specifically, I study the ways in which learning and memory contribute to the development and expression of drug tolerance, withdrawal symptoms, and overdose. I am also
interested in the physiological mechanisms that underlie conditioned tolerance, and in what contribution (if any) the hippocampus has in the process. A second area of research I am involved in is examining basic memory
processes. I am interested in the factors that contribute to forgetting (failure of consolidation vs. retrieval failure).

Current Projects

Currently, I am busy preparing my dissertation to submit for review for publication. I am hoping to have my new lab here at Kenyon up and running by mid semester!

The best thing about being at Kenyon is

That's a difficult question to answer being so new to Kenyon, but I can say that one of the things that has impressed me the most since I've been here is the strong sense of community, and the willingness that others have shown to help me settle in here.

Hobbies and favorite things

Golfing, swimming, boating, reading, gardening, and spending time with my husband and family. My dog, Einstein, ranks pretty high up there on my favorite things list (he's really not a thing so much as a furry person).

One thing to do or accomplish in life

Wow, there are so many things I hope to do and accomplish. Above all, I want to continue to learn and grow as a scholar and human being.
